History…

Technicom Electric was established in June 1996 by Rich Hess.  For more than 20 years, Rich based his business on family values and hard work.  He and his family’s dedication throughout this time, built a reputation surrounding Technicom Electric that is known for high quality and exceeding expectations.

In 2016, now known as Technicom Electric Fire & Security (Technicom EFS), the business continues to be based on those same core values, with the vision to become stronger in the market place, in doing so, Rich has partnered with longtime Fire & Security Operations professional, Shawn Szep.  Both men possess an uncanny and relentless passion for this business; with Hess being a self-made, successful business owner of Technicom Electric for the past 20 years and Szep, a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and successful Fire & Security business professional for 16 years with the likes of ADT and Tyco Integrated Security.

As Hess explains, “The focus has been, and will always be, to provide a level of professional accountability that exceeds our customer’s expectations”.   Technicom EFS is well established in the Central Ohio security industry. With a clear focus on the commercial sector, its customer list includes a number of household names. We've deliberately set out to be one of the best in the business rather than the biggest.

What we do…

We specialize in the sale, design, installation and servicing of Fire Alarm, Intrusion, Access Control, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). Our company is also diverse in the construction aspects as we are able to perform “ANY” construction needs through our large network of associated contractors. This allows Technicom EFS to provide, “one point accountability” for any project and any task.

We have successfully completed hundreds of commercial and industrial projects to date. The majority of our projects have been in the Government/State, Data Center, Warehousing, Hotel, Education, and Retail arenas.  These projects range from large Corporate Distribution Centers, Corporate Administration Facilities, Industrial Manufacturing and Power Plants. Whether in the thousands to millions of square feet or Small Business store fronts, Technicom EFS can provide you a solution.

New technology already plays an extremely important role in our business, and is set to be even more important in the future. Within security aspects, intrusion alarms may still be the heart of most businesses, but fire alarm, access control systems and CCTV represent important areas of growth and with good reason. We believe that as technologies improve, it allows customers to benefit from ever more sophisticated and reliable approaches to security at lower operating costs.

CCTV, for example, has become a standard requirement for more and more businesses seeking to comply with Health & Safety requirements, to protect from fraudulent insurance claims, employee safety concerns and protect against “shrinkage”. In the modern digital age, recording systems can be installed which run without manual intervention and it is possible to capture and retain footage from several weeks to several months.  Whether you are a large corporate company or a small business owner, CCTV security is a must in today’s world.

Fire Alarm Protection is a major component to protecting what matters most.  Technicom EFS prides itself on the level of Fire expertise within the organization and is consistently reviewing new State and National Regulations to ensure compliance.  Our Fire Alarm installation teams carry all State license requirements and we vigorously seek out the latest training and certifications, whether required or not, to ensure we provide the highest quality and most precise fire alarm installations in the business. 

Access Control Systems play a key role in providing your employees and your assets the protection they deserve.  Today’s technology will allow you the ability to remotely manage all aspects of your access points.  Using Web-based access software, you can make personnel changes or access authorizations in real time.  This reduces the risk to your business and your employees, all while ensuring you know who has access to your location(s).

We understand it is our job to make sure that our customers have access to the very latest technology and, even more importantly, that they can get well-informed advice on what will suit their situation best. We're not here to recommend or sell them systems they don't need.
